Power: Immortality. Kira ages one year for every twenty-five years aged by normal human beings, and any wounds he sustains heal so fast that he seemingly cannot be killed.
Profession: Teaching English Literature and Creative Writing at Helix Academy.
History: Sakuya Kira's personal history is largely a mystery. It's not that he's unwilling to talk about it - it's just that it's nearly impossible to tell how much of what he says is actually true. There are subjects he tends to avoid, as well - most notably his love life - and he often seems oddly lonely at times, although perhaps that's merely a coincidence of being close to so many people who have been dead for so long. He claims to have known or been friends with (or enemies with) various historical figures, though as always it's impossible to tell whether or not he's telling the truth.
Kira's got tendencies towards drinking, smoking and womanizing, but despite those bad habits, he seems to genuinely care quite deeply for the few people he allows himself to get close to, and wants the best for his students, often trying to get through to them by emplying techniques commonly referred to as "tough love." His love of books and learning runs deep, and so it's only fitting that he'd want to teach them. He's once gone so far as to say he'd like to read every book in the world, although that seems a gargantuan task even for him.
Kira has a mysterious scar running down the length of his chest, but he refuses to talk about how he got it and rarely lets anyone catch a glimpse of it, if he can help it.
